Advice For Startup Business: Stuck! Time To Improv! Podcast Featuring Colleen Biggs
Startup advice about work/life priorities for new business owners.
Starting a business is a thrilling adventure, but it can also be a challenging and isolating experience. It’s easy to become overwhelmed by the demands of building a successful startup, and it can be difficult to balance work with the other priorities in our lives. In this episode of Stuck! Time to Improv, we sit down with Colleen Biggs, the founder of LEAP for Ladies, to talk about her experiences as an entrepreneur and to get her advice about work/life balance and community building.
What is your experience with work/life balance?
She shared with us that as a first-time business owner, she was so consumed with building her business that she neglected her own well-being. After burning out, she realized that it’s essential to prioritize self-care and to set boundaries around work. Colleen talked about the importance of establishing a routine for exercise, meditation, and other stress-relieving activities. She also emphasized that taking a break from work to spend time with friends and family allows us to recharge and return to our business with renewed energy and creativity.
Next, we asked Colleen about her approach to community building. She shared with us that, as a woman entrepreneur, she recognized that there was a gap in the market for a supportive community that addressed the unique challenges and opportunities that women face in business. With this in mind, she founded LEAP for Ladies, an organization that provides resources and mentorship for women entrepreneurs. Colleen emphasized the importance of finding a community of like-minded individuals who can offer support, advice, and encouragement. She also talked about the benefits of seeking out mentorship from more experienced entrepreneurs who can offer guidance and perspective.
We asked Colleen for her advice to new business owners.
She stressed the importance of setting clear goals and creating a roadmap for achieving them. She also talked about the value of being flexible and adaptable, recognizing that unexpected challenges and opportunities will arise. Colleen emphasized the importance of focusing on the customer experience, building relationships, and cultivating a brand that reflects the values of your business. She also discussed the value of collaboration and networking to expand your reach and build mutually beneficial relationships.
What keeps you motivated as an entrepreneur?
